How To Create A Mastermind Group

Have you ever thought about taking your business to the next level but didn't know where to start, who to ask or ideas to create the next level? Have you wanted to do better in your personal life but didn't know what to change or where to start? This is why you need a "mastermind group". A group of people you trust and value their opinions enough to tell your innovative thoughts to and listen to theirs and provide feedback.

Small business owners are people with everyday lives and some may still have a 9 to 5 job. Depending on the type of business you run it can be very time consuming and tiring. Depending on how busy your personal life is, kid sports, traveling, planning a big occasion, such as a wedding, or just working without a good support group you can easily get discouraged and loose focus.

Some main issues in both personal and business growth can be you need someone to collaborate with (not compete) and get answers to your questions. It may be hard to find like-minded people to have ideas sparked for your own goals. One of the biggest issues is we spend a lot of time focusing on the wrong things so we never truly grow.

Here is what you do. Find 3-5 people you actually like and value their opinions, have a business or personal life that mirrors yours. They don't have to be exactly alike but if you are a stay at home mom, a working mom may not be able to help you with your personal growth. If you are a small business owner your friends or family that don't own businesses can't relate to your growth concerns. So, find people who mirror you and are as mature as you in your current state. Remember you are trying to grow.

If you are doing a business mastermind group find people who have businesses in your class but offer different things. For example, an event planner may want a venue owner, florist, and/or marketing company to be apart of their group. These people can provide feedback that can relate to that profession. If you can't think of anyone put a post on Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram asking if anyone want to join the group. Everyone may not be your cup of tea but pick those you feel you could benefit from. If you already do business with other small business owners ask them to join the group. If this is for your personal life gather with people you see as positive, motivating and dependable.

Get together every two weeks via phone and once every three months in person. Give each other a certain amount of time to speak and then a certain amount of time for feedback. Do 90 day plans (as you meet quarterly) and discuss the pros and cons to the plans, which ones succeeded and which ones failed. Set goals that allow you to complete the 90 day plans and talk about hard decisions. One thing you must also remember to do is celebrate and discuss the positive things. Don't make this a beat-up each other session. Enjoy and celebrate the positive outcomes.

By doing this you will grow your personal and professional life. You will see your dreams manifest into reality and build long lasting reliable relationships. The groups are called mastermind because you have inner strength that needs collaboration and you can do anything.
